I have some very sad news to share.

Our dear friend Barrie White — the founder of BB List, the “Bazza” in Bazza’s Bazaar — passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 7th of May.

He hadn’t quite been himself lately, but thankfully he did not suffer.

Barrie would have been 88 in August and had lived an active and fulfilling life right to the end. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and a loving husband to his wonderful wife, Annie.

Always a gentleman, and always full of humour.

I first met Barrie when I boom operated for him on Pengelli for S4C in 1996. We remained close friends ever since. I became involved with BB List shortly afterwards and, over the years, took on a larger role within the company, eventually taking over from Barrie when he retired in 2018, just a few weeks before his 80th birthday.

Until relatively recently, Barrie and I personally knew most of the users of BB List, having worked alongside many of you on location over the years. As BB List continued to grow, those personal connections naturally became less frequent, but you have always remained part of our extended family. I visited a set only last week and several people asked after Bazza, having worked with him in years gone by.

He was an incredible man, and I know many of you will miss him as much as I will.

Barrie’s son asked me to let as many people know as possible. Since hearing the news, my phone has been constantly pinging with messages of condolence from friends and colleagues. Thank you. I will pass all of your messages on to his family — they will mean a great deal to them.
